Hard-Fi w/Infadels 01.12.05

Date: Thursday 1st December 2005
Venue: Exeter University, Lemongrove
Time: 7:30pm
Support: Infadels
We went and picked up my lil concert buddy, and drove to Exeter, we got there pretty late, but we didnt miss anything. None of us particulary felt like getting squashed so we just stood at the back against the wall, the lemongroves tiny anyway, so we were still pretty close. We waited for Dad. He eventually got to us, he had been having a coffee in the cafe and Rich Archer (hard-fi singer) was right next to him! Oh and he then met Infadels at the bar later on.
Infadels came on about 7:50pm i think, they had so much energy, really funky. They played the following (from what i can remember).
Love Me Like Semtex
Top Boy
Jagger 67
Give Yourself To Me
Reality TV
Can't Get Enough
Im sure im missing one or two, but oh well. They were very good live, made me go listen to their record again anyway! Amazing band. Good dancers. Some Pictures..

In between bands, they played loads of remix's including nearly the whole first half of the Hard-Fi album remixed, and other stuff like Gorillaz etc Then this dude came round, and we signed up to Infadels mailing list, even though im already on it, i just wanted free stuff! So we got some badges and leaflets.
Hard-Fi came on pretty early, and they were absolutely brilliant. Rich was quite talkative. Highlights for me were definately 'Cash Machine', 'You & Me', and 'Feltham is Singing Out' i think. Setlist went something like this....
Middle Eastern Holiday
Gotta Reason
Better Do Better
Unnecessary Trouble
You & Me (New song)
Better Do Better
Feltham Is Singing Out
Hard to Beat
Seven Nation Army (White Stripes Cover)
Cash Machine <3
-------------------
Move On Now
Stars Of CCTV
Living For The Weekend
'Cash Machine' was recorded live, so i think we'll download that later. Was a great night! Crowd were quite crazy at times too. Would love to see them again!

Athlete w/Gemma Hayes 07.11.05

Date: Monday 7th November 2005
Venue: Plymouth Pavillions, Plymouth
Time: 6:30pm, Doors: 7:30pm
Support: Murphys Kid and Gemma Hayes
My lil concert buddy picked me up at 5, Thank you again for the lift :) Got to Plymouth about 6. Then we went and met up with the other street teamers who were really nice. We put up some posters, must have given out at least 70 flyers, 30 cds, etc We went around doing the mailing lists aswell, which is fun until you get rejected! Doors opened around 7-7:30pm, we just waited outside for a while though. The Pavillions were set up really different from when we went to see Kings Of Leon. There was loads and loads of seating too. Our tickets were actually in the seating area, so we sat for Athlete and stood for the support. Anyway we stocked up on some Gemma Hayes posters, cds etc.
First band on were Murphys Kid, who werent actually that bad. Quite nice, they played about 4/5 songs. Then we had to wait 30 minutes for Gemma Hayes. She was amazing, 'Hanging Around' was very good, she's pretty good, she played about 6/7 songs then ATHLETE! Wooo! 30 minutes later!
They were pretty amazing, very good live. Joel is actually even cuter than i thought, he spoke out quite a lot, made a few jokes too, Great guy.... Yummm Anyway the bassist i thought was being lazy because he was sat down, turns out he had a dislocated shoulder, They were brilliant, the lighting was beautiful, very nice colours, the big screen at the back was pretty cool, then this random guy was on stage filming the crowd and it was up on the big screen, that was cool. 'You Got The Style' and 'Wires' were by far my favourites of the night, bloody amazing.
Setlist, from what i can remember.
Tourist
Half Light
Beautiful
El Salvador
Street Map
Stand In The Sun
Wires
---------------------
Twenty Four Hours
Ok not in that order, and theres more too.
Anyway absolutely amazing show!

The Subways w/The Kooks 30.10.05
Got my Kooks Vinyl signed, story and more piccys later!!
Venue: Exeter University, Lemongrove
Time: 7pm
Support: The Kooks & The Suffragets
We went and picked Emma up and got to Exeter pretty early. When we got there we accidentally walked in the backstage way, but we didnt have a clue, and all the members of The Kooks walked past and said 'Hey!' and i started jumping around because i was so excited that they were supporting because stupid NME said they werent! So that made my day! We continued walking backstage because basically no one had told us off or said anything... Then Billy from Subways walks past, and Becks and Emma start wetting themselves, Anyway he's a really really nice guy, so we got some photos with him, 2nd ones blurry but meh! So we had a nice conversation with him.

Then we walked into the actual hall, and its just a tad bigger than the Phoenix, we went in and The Suffragets were in there, and then i realised that Gemma (ex Babyshambles drummer) was there, and well thats her new band! So said 'Hey!' to all those guys too, didnt have the camera at the time though unfortunately. Then The Kooks walked back in to soundcheck, and Billy followed. They played there new song 'Time Awaits' and it was oh so gorgeous, they kept looking over and smiling! Then us 3 realised that we were in a room with Billy, Kooks and Suffragets! Just us lot, and we all just were really excited! Billy and I danced along to The Kooks song whilst Becks and Emma went and got a t-shirt, poster, badges, stickers etc. Then we went back outside, and just hung around, we ended up being door holders, and the amount of times they all walked past, so we had a little mini conversation every time they did. I couldnt believe i was finally seeing The Kooks! <3>
Bus Song
Do You Want To See The World
Naive
Eddie's Gun
Time Awaits
You Dont Love Me
Sofa Song
Pull Me In
Yes, they played my favourite song last, which was actually a surprise because i didnt think they were going to play it at all. Highlights were 'Pull Me In', 'You Dont Love Me', 'Do You Want To See The World' and Arr screw it ALL of them were amazing! They were really great and realy nice to us too, we managed to get Hugh's guitar pick, its soo nice, They were really energetic on stage too, Very good indeed. I sang along and in Time Awaits, Luke looked over at me and grinned! Then another long wait and The Subways came on! and Jesus wasnt prepared, not prepared at all. The crowd were practically dead still during first 2 bands and christ all of a sudden the whole place turned into one huge mosh pit! It was hilarious, we stayed in for a while, but then Becks almost dropped our precious camera with Billy pictures on so we quickly got out! We stood about 10 rows back in the end, still had a great view though. Billy and Charlotte talked out quite a bit, both really nice, hardly even saw Josh. They impressed me though, i didnt like them too much before but now yeah there great! They played the following (again from what i can remember) :-
With You
Young For Eternity
City Pavement
I Want To Hear What You Got To Say
At 1am
Lines Of Light
Oh Yeah
Mary
A Plain Above
Holiday
She Sun
-----------------
No Goodbyes
Rock N Roll Queen
Highlights were definately 'I Want To Hear What You Got To Say', 'Oh Yeah' , 'Holiday' and 'A Plain Above'
