Arctic Monkeys w/Nixon & The Burn 17.08.05

Venue: Exeter Phoenix, Exeter
Time : 8pm
Support: Nixon + The Burn
Date: 17th August 2005
So im still very excited about the gig, been the best gig so far, we managed to get right to the front, and stayed there until everyone left! We arrived at 7:20pm, we sat on the steps outside for a while and 3/4's of the band walked right up the street in front of us! Then we went in and looked at all the merch, Dam we should have taken money, they had the nicest t-shirts, However Shannon got some rather nice badges at the end when Alex (lead singer) brushed behind us! We missed out on the free posters, because some idiots knicked 20 and there was none left for us because we were busy knicking Alex's waterbottle. So yeah doors opened at 8, got right to the front. Local band Nixon + The Burn were the support, they werent actually too bad. You can find there site here... http://www.nixonandtheburn.com/ . Arctic Monkeys came on around 9:30 and they were amazing! The sound was perfect. They played the following (this is what i can remember)
Fake Tales
Dancing Shoes
I Bet You Look Good On The Danceflooor
Still Take You Home
You Probably Could'nt See....
Mardy Bum
Sun Goes Down
From The Ritz To The Rubble
Vampire's Is A Bit Strong But....
A Certain Romance
Thats the ones i can remember, they werent in that order apart from the first two, whilst we were waiting for the Monkeys to come on they played there remix of Bigger Boys + Stolen Sweethearts and it was brilliant, if anyone has it, let me know! and quick!!
The show was great, Alex is great, he was suffering with a sore throat but did a great job, he was great he spoke out too the crowd a lot, made a few jokes. Andy was constantly smiling, twas great, Cookey was stood right infront of us and was brilliant and Matt was just well, really good!
The crowd were crazy, loads and loads of crowdsurfing going on, quite a few guys got kicked out for it. Even the girls were crowdsurfing tonight too!
So afterwards we shouted to the hot techinican guy and asked for Alexs water bottle! We were quite close to getting the setlist, dammit! We headed towards the merch stand and Alex went right behind us! So we followed him and thats where we met the rest, they looked pretty surprised that we wanted photos with them, but it was great! We spoke for a while, and they were carrying loads of stuff, they put it down just so they could put there arms around us! There really sweet, down to earth lads! Wish i could meet them again. Then we went out about 10:30pm, met my mum and Andy ran back past! We were like 'Cya Mate, Love ya!!' and Mum was like 'Who the hells that?!' , twas funny at the time! Best Gig yet! Lets hope the Monkeys return some time...
